Oh What a wonderful example.
This antique papier-mâché peddler doll is 15 inches tall.  The dome stands 19 inches.  I would think that the doll is from the 1870 - 1880's.  It appears that the base of the dome is newer but the glass is old since it has that wavy look.  She was from the Santa Barbara Museum.  She has a wonderful array of goods.  The basket of goods lays against a leather vest.  I have not undressed her but I can feel that she has a cloth body with wood arms and legs.  I don't know if she is marked on the body of not.  She wears several layers of under clothes and another dress under her wool cape.  There are 18 items attached to her cape and a vast array of items attached and inside of her basket.  She is terrific!  From our home to yours.
