Description
Very unique item for fans of Pearl Jam. I am offering this up for sale for a friend. He offered up some history to prospective buyers. This is the one you want! Signed x 5 and framed more than 25 years ago.
Yes- even Dave Abbruzzese! James Spence Authentication LOA.
My name is Scott S. from about 1989 to 1996, I worked for a small business in Seattle called King Marking Systems (KMS) that was located at 203 Dexter Avenue North. At KMS, we made and sold rubberstamps, engraved nameplates, signage, stencils, ink, etc. It was a pretty cool job that got much cooler one day when a guy named George Webb walked though the door. George Webb was (and still is) Pearl Jam's Equipment Manager and Guitar Tech. George was looking for someone that could supply him with custom-made stencils of Pearl Jam logo/Artwork, lettering stencils, inks and other products for application of the Pearl Jam touring equipment cases. If you can picture "SOUND BOARD", "STAGE LEFT", "THIS SIDE FRONT OF STAGE", DRUM KIT 1 of 4" etc. stenciled on the bands black equipment cases along with Pearl Jam logo art, then you get the idea.
I will resist the urge to entertain you with personal stories and amusing anecdotes about the Seattle music scene and the vibe that resonated back in the day. I will just say that George was a cool dude and that we began a business relationship that included some sweet perks, including concert tickets, backstage passes, visits to the bands practice space and an occasional piece of memorabilia. In short, the early / Mid 90's in Seattle was freaking awesome.
This magazine is the only item that I ever asked to be signed by the band as I tried to maintain some level of professionalism and not let the fan in me screw up a good thing. Other than an occasional show-n-tell, this piece has been wrapped in a soft pillowcase and stored away for 25 years.
More notes about the piece:
This magazine was framed in March 1994 at "Inprints" (Southcenter Mall=Tukwila, WA) in a brushed aluminum metal frame w/glass face without the use of adhesives or anything that would damage the magazine.
Jeff Ament's signature does include a personal note. It reads: "Stencil Stud Scott, F*ck Santa".
Eddie Vedder added "O-Z-Z-Y" on the fingers of his right hand just like the Prince of Darkness.
Dave Abbruzzese added "Boy Ain't this fun".
Stone Gossard added "Hi".
Mike McCready doodled ears and eyebrows.
I hope his story adds to the history of this piece of memorabilia. Item will also come with a letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
